The office has started to get some calls with questions about the new rates. Actually, more like complaints.

The rate setting process is a public process. All rate setting discussions, with some exceptions related to personnel issues, are public discussions. The commissioners start serious budget discussions for the following year at their July meeting.

A budget, with the attendant rates, must be finalized at the November meeting in order to meet county deadlines.

If you would like to be a part of the budgeting and rate-setting process, attend commissioner meetings. You are always welcome and there is always a period for public comment.
