So what is going on at the moment…
We are awaiting a new Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for Well #5. We don’t have the shipping bill yet, but acquisition and installation is just shy of $25,000. The blown drive will be sent back to the factory. The hope is that it can be rebuilt so we can have it as a backup.
The LeMay project is just about wrapped up. The various service meters need to be installed and a sheaf of paperwork completed. The new booster station will be test fired sometime this week.
The Armory (Montesano Readiness Center) project is physically complete. There is just some paperwork to wrap up.
The engineering is underway for the replacement of the cast iron pipe on Highway 12 west of Aberdeen Lake Road. This project is complicated by the topograhy. Some of the work will be open trench, some will be horizontal drilling. We have budgeted $100,000 for that project. It looks like it will go over that.
The Department of Health mandated downhill extension on Reynvaan appears to be on hold again this year. We simply don’t have the money.
The main replacement on Hill Road south of Central Park Drive is also on hold. Also due to a lack of funds.
The main replacement on Fairway Terrace, that has been on hold for several years, is still on hold, and for the same reason the Hill Road replacement is on hold.
We recently submitted the annual Water Use Efficiency Report to the state Department of Health. The reported Distribution System Leakage was 7%. In 2010 it was 34.3%. The Water Use Efficiency Rule mandate is less than 10%.
We are working on the specifications for replacement of the lower Reynvaan pumphouse. This building does not conform to Department of Health standards and has been slowly rotting away over the years.
The pump controls for the Reynvaan Booster Station are both chronologically old and old technology. We are hoping to be able to budget replacement before we experience a failure. These controls are currently housed in an outside enclosure. We would like to move them into the lower pumphouse.
The as-built drawings of the distribution system are very chaotic. We are in the beginning stages of working with an engineer to not only digitize the as-builts, but also to confirm that they conform to reality.
We have a couple of fencing issues. The well site fencing is in need of extensive repair and the fencing along the south side of the shop site needs replacing. It seems the fencing companies are very busy and don’t have time for estimates.
The installation of remote-read water meters along Highway 12 is complete. We just need to get the software up and running. We undertook this project for safety reasons. Having staff out on the highway reading meters is not a safe situation.
In the budgeting process we are trying to find room to extend the SCADA system to the remote booster stations. Right now SCADA reports on reservoir levels and well pump operations. If something fails in one of the booster stations our first indication is the out-of-water calls.
And other stuff. Right now the above is what we have time to type up. More will be added later.
